Description

Econazole nitrate is an antifungal medication used to treat a variety of fungal infections, including vaginal yeast infections, athlete's foot, and ringworm. It is a synthetic compound that was first synthesized in the 1970s. Econazole nitrate works by inhibiting the growth of fungi. It is applied topically and is generally well-tolerated. Econazole nitrate is an important antifungal medication because it is effective against a wide range of fungi. It is also relatively inexpensive and readily available. Econazole nitrate is studied because of its potential to treat a variety of fungal infections. Research is ongoing to develop new and more effective antifungal medications.'

econazole nitrate : A racemate composed of equimolar amounts of (R)- and (S)-econazole nitrate. Used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm and other fungal skin infections.
