Description

Thiodipropionic acid (TDP) is an organic compound with the formula (CH2CH2COOH)2S. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and organic solvents. TDP is used as a chelating agent, a corrosion inhibitor, and a stabilizer for polymers. It is also a precursor to the herbicide 2,4-D. The synthesis of TDP is typically accomplished by the reaction of 3-mercaptopropionic acid with acrylonitrile, followed by hydrolysis. TDP has been shown to have several biological effects, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activity. TDP is studied because of its potential as a therapeutic agent. TDP is of interest to researchers due to its potential applications in various fields, including agriculture, medicine, and industry.'
