Description

11-hydroxyprogesterone, (11alpha)-isomer is a naturally occurring steroid hormone that is a precursor to cortisol and aldosterone. It is synthesized in the adrenal glands and is involved in the regulation of stress response, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure. 11-hydroxyprogesterone, (11alpha)-isomer is also a substrate for the enzyme 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11beta-HSD1), which converts it to cortisol. This enzyme is important for maintaining normal cortisol levels in the body. 11-hydroxyprogesterone, (11alpha)-isomer is studied to understand its role in various physiological processes and its potential therapeutic applications. For example, it has been investigated as a possible treatment for certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer. However, further research is needed to evaluate its efficacy and safety in humans.'
