Toxicity

Sodium arsenite was an order of magnitude more toxic and mutagenic than sodium arsenate. G1-phase CHO cells showed a 2-fold increase in the susceptibility to the toxic effects of sodium arsenite as compared to asynchronous CHO cells.

Roles (7)

RoleDescription
insecticideStrictly, a substance intended to kill members of the class Insecta. In common usage, any substance used for preventing, destroying, repelling or controlling insects.
antibacterial agentA substance (or active part thereof) that kills or slows the growth of bacteria.
herbicideA substance used to destroy plant pests.
rodenticideA substance used to destroy rodent pests.
carcinogenic agentA role played by a chemical compound which is known to induce a process of carcinogenesis by corrupting normal cellular pathways, leading to the acquistion of tumoral capabilities.
antineoplastic agentA substance that inhibits or prevents the proliferation of neoplasms.
antifungal agentAn antimicrobial agent that destroys fungi by suppressing their ability to grow or reproduce.
