Description

Resazurin is a blue, non-fluorescent dye that is widely used as a redox indicator in biological assays. It is reduced by metabolically active cells to resorufin, a pink fluorescent compound. The reduction of resazurin to resorufin is a convenient measure of cell viability and proliferation. Resazurin is also used to assess the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. Resazurin is a non-toxic, water-soluble dye that is relatively easy to use. It can be added directly to cell culture media or other solutions, and its fluorescence can be read using a standard fluorescence plate reader.'
