Description

Fura-2-AM is a membrane-permeant acetoxymethyl ester form of the calcium-sensitive fluorescent dye fura-2. It is a non-fluorescent compound that can be loaded into cells. Once inside the cell, intracellular esterases cleave the acetoxymethyl groups, generating the fluorescent fura-2. Fura-2 is a useful tool for studying intracellular calcium dynamics in living cells. It binds to calcium ions, and its fluorescence intensity changes depending on the concentration of calcium. This allows researchers to measure changes in intracellular calcium concentration in real-time. Fura-2-AM is widely used in cell biology, neuroscience, and pharmacology research.'
