Description

Piperacetazine is a typical antipsychotic drug of the phenothiazine class. It was synthesized in the 1960s and introduced in the United States in 1967. Piperacetazine is a potent dopamine receptor antagonist, which means it blocks the action of dopamine in the brain. This action is believed to be responsible for its antipsychotic effects. Piperacetazine is used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. It is also sometimes used to treat severe anxiety and agitation. Piperacetazine has a number of side effects, including drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. It can also cause extrapyramidal symptoms, which are involuntary movements. In some cases, piperacetazine can cause neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition. Piperacetazine is generally considered to be a safe and effective medication when used appropriately. However, it is important to be aware of the potential side effects and to use it only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.'
