Description

Erbium is a rare earth element with the symbol Er and atomic number 68. It is a silvery-white solid that is relatively soft and malleable. Erbium is not found free in nature, but occurs in small amounts in various minerals, such as monazite and gadolinite. It is typically extracted from these minerals through a complex process that involves dissolution, separation, and purification.

Erbium has a number of applications, particularly in lasers, amplifiers, and optical fibers. Its unique spectral properties make it ideal for generating infrared light, which is used in various applications, including telecommunications, medicine, and industrial sensing.

Erbium-doped fibers are used in optical amplifiers to boost the signal strength in long-distance fiber-optic communication systems. Erbium lasers are used in medical procedures like laser skin resurfacing, laser tattoo removal, and dental procedures.

Erbium is also used in the production of high-strength alloys and in certain types of glass and ceramics. The element is of interest to scientists due to its potential applications in various fields, such as quantum computing and solar energy. Its magnetic and optical properties are currently being studied for their potential use in developing new technologies.'

Dosage Studied

The objective of this study was to investigate whether use of Erbium:YAG fractional laser ablation and different topical dosage forms (solution, hydrogel and patch) could be used to improve PTX delivery. The results demonstrated that the degradation and mineralization of orange I under both UV radiation and visible light were more efficient with Er(3+)-TiO(2) catalyst.
