Erbium chloride, also known as erbium(III) chloride, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula ErCl3. It is a white, hygroscopic solid that is soluble in water. Erbium chloride can be synthesized by reacting erbium oxide (Er2O3) with hydrochloric acid (HCl). It is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other erbium compounds, such as erbium oxide and erbium hydroxide. Erbium chloride is also used in the production of lasers, optical fibers, and other optical materials. Its luminescent properties and the ability to enhance optical properties of other materials make it of interest to researchers.'
