Methomyl is a broad-spectrum carbamate insecticide that has a variety of toxic effects on humans and animals. Methomyl has been widely used to protect the crop against insects as an alternative for organophosphorus insecticide.
Methomyl toxicity has been reported as a cause of several accidental and suicidal fatalities. Methomyl has both a low vapor pressure and Henry's law constant; hence, volatilization is not a major dissipation route.
