Description

avermectin: produced by actinomycete, Streptomyces avermitilis; structure; see also records for specific avermectins [Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), National Library of Medicine, extracted Dec-2023]

avermectin : Any of the macrolides obtained as fermentation products from the bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis and consisting of a 16-membered macrocyclic backbone that is fused both benzofuran and spiroketal functions and contains a disaccharide substituent. They have significant anthelmintic and insecticidal properties. Toxicity

Avermectin was extremely harmful to O sokolowskii but slightly toxic to C plutellae. Chlorfluazuron was more toxic than Aedes aegypti L. The final residues of beta-cypermethrin, pyriproxyfen, avermECTin, diflubenzuron, and chlorothalonil were safe for human consumption after these pesticides were applied.

Dosage Studied

Avermectin resistance is not sex-linked, according to the authors. The authors compared the dose-response characteristics of several avermectins using the Worminator.
