Description

Haloprogin is an antifungal agent, specifically a topical antifungal medication. It is often used to treat fungal infections of the skin, such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch. It is a synthetic derivative of the natural product griseofulvin. Haloprogin works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, an important component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption of ergosterol synthesis leads to the death of fungal cells. Haloprogin is typically applied to the affected area of skin twice daily for 2-4 weeks. It is generally safe for most individuals, though some people may experience mild side effects such as skin irritation, redness, or dryness.
