Description

Amoscanate is an antiparasitic drug that has been investigated for its potential to treat a variety of parasitic infections, including schistosomiasis and onchocerciasis. It was initially synthesized in the 1970s and has shown promising results in preclinical studies. Amoscanate is thought to work by inhibiting the enzyme glutathione reductase, which is essential for the survival of parasitic worms. It has been found to be effective against both adult and larval stages of schistosomiasis and onchocerciasis. Research into amoscanate has been ongoing for several decades, with the aim of developing a safe and effective treatment for these debilitating parasitic diseases. Clinical trials are underway to assess the efficacy and safety of amoscanate in humans.'
