Description

Ziram is a fungicide used to control a variety of fungal diseases on crops. It is synthesized by reacting zinc salts with dimethyldithiocarbamate. Ziram is a broad-spectrum fungicide that inhibits the growth of fungi by interfering with their metabolic processes. Ziram is also known to have some insecticidal activity. It is used on a variety of crops, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Ziram is relatively non-toxic to mammals, but it can be harmful to fish and other aquatic life. It is important to use ziram according to label directions to minimize environmental risks. Ziram is studied to understand its efficacy and safety, as well as to develop new fungicides with improved properties.'

Ziram: An industrial fungicide with low mammalian toxicity, although it does possess an irritant capacity for skin and mucous membranes. [Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), National Library of Medicine, extracted Dec-2023]

ziram : A dithiocarbamate salt that is the zinc salt of dimethyldithiocarbamic acid. It is a broad-spectrum fungicide and bird and animal repellent that is also used to accelerate the vulcanisation of rubber. Research Excerpts

Overview

Ziram is a dimethyldithiocarbamate fungicide that is complexed to the metal zinc. Ziram can cause intraneuronal calcium (Ca(2+) dysregulation and subsequently neuronal death.
