Description

3-Chloroalanine is a synthetic amino acid that is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme serine hydroxymethyltransferase. This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of glycine and tetrahydrofolate, both of which are essential for cell growth and metabolism. 3-Chloroalanine has been shown to have a variety of biological effects, including inhibiting tumor growth, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It is also being investigated as a potential treatment for various neurological disorders. 3-Chloroalanine is studied because of its potential therapeutic applications, as well as its ability to serve as a tool for investigating the role of serine hydroxymethyltransferase in various biological processes.'
