Description

Phytosphingosine is a long-chain amino alcohol that is a major component of sphingolipids, a class of lipids found in cell membranes. It is synthesized from palmitoyl-CoA and serine via the sphingolipid biosynthesis pathway. Phytosphingosine plays a critical role in cell signaling, apoptosis, and inflammation. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, making it a promising therapeutic target for a variety of diseases. Phytosphingosine is also studied for its role in skin health, as it is a key component of the skin's barrier function.'
