Description

Tyrphostin 8 is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor with selectivity for the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR). It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of various cancer cell lines, including those derived from breast, lung, and colon cancer. Tyrphostin 8 was synthesized by a multi-step reaction sequence starting from 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid. It has been extensively studied for its potential as a therapeutic agent for cancer. The compound has been shown to induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in cancer cells. In addition, tyrphostin 8 has also been shown to inhibit angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, which is essential for tumor growth and metastasis. However, it has limited clinical application due to its poor bioavailability and low selectivity.'
