Description

Cesium fluoride (CsF) is an ionic compound formed from cesium and fluorine. It is a colorless, hygroscopic solid that is highly soluble in water. CsF is commonly used as a reagent in organic chemistry, particularly for fluorination reactions, and as a flux in the production of optical fibers and ceramics. It is also a component of some high-temperature molten salt mixtures used in nuclear reactors and electrochemical energy storage systems. The high ionic conductivity of CsF makes it suitable for these applications. The synthesis of CsF involves the reaction of cesium metal or cesium hydroxide with hydrofluoric acid. Due to its corrosive nature, CsF requires careful handling and storage.'
