Description

5-fluorotryptophan is a synthetic analogue of the amino acid tryptophan. It is an inhibitor of tryptophan hydroxylase, the enzyme responsible for the rate-limiting step in the biosynthesis of serotonin. 5-fluorotryptophan has been studied for its potential therapeutic applications in conditions such as depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is also a research tool used to study the role of serotonin in the brain.'
