Description

Dimethisterone is a synthetic progestin that was first synthesized in the 1950s. It is a potent progestational agent with a high affinity for the progesterone receptor. Dimethisterone has been used in a variety of medical applications, including as a contraceptive, for the treatment of endometriosis, and for hormone replacement therapy. It is also used in veterinary medicine. Dimethisterone is studied because of its potential therapeutic uses and its effects on the body. It is also studied to better understand the role of progesterone in human health. Dimethisterone is generally well-tolerated, but it can cause side effects, such as weight gain, acne, and mood swings. It is important to talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using dimethisterone.'

Dimethisterone: A synthetic progestational hormone without significant estrogenic or androgenic properties. It was formerly used as the progestational component in SEQUENTIAL ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE AGENTS [Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), National Library of Medicine, extracted Dec-2023]
