2,3,4,4',5-pentachlorobiphenyl (PCB 126) is a highly chlorinated polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congener. It is a persistent organic pollutant that is resistant to degradation in the environment. PCB 126 is known to have a number of adverse effects on human health, including carcinogenic, immunotoxic, and developmental effects. It is also known to disrupt endocrine function. PCB 126 is one of the most toxic PCBs and is a major contributor to the overall toxicity of PCB mixtures.
