Description

1,6-dimethylnaphthalene is an organic compound with the formula C12H12. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It is a derivative of naphthalene, with two methyl groups attached to the 1 and 6 positions of the naphthalene ring. 1,6-dimethylnaphthalene is a component of coal tar and is also produced synthetically. It is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other organic compounds, including dyes and pharmaceuticals. It is also used as a solvent and as a heat transfer fluid. 1,6-dimethylnaphthalene is studied because it is an important intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It is also a model compound for studying the properties of naphthalene derivatives.'
