Description

Dansyl fluoride (DNS-F) is a fluorescent labeling reagent used to derivatize primary amines, such as amino acids in proteins, or other compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting dansyl chloride with potassium fluoride. Upon reaction, dansyl fluoride covalently attaches to the primary amine, forming a dansyl derivative. This derivative is fluorescent and can be detected using a fluorometer. Dansyl fluoride is often used to study the structure and function of proteins, as well as to quantify proteins in biological samples. It is also used in the synthesis of other fluorescent probes. It has applications in biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology.'
