Description

Titan Yellow, also known as Thiazole Yellow, is a bright yellow azo dye. It is synthesized by coupling diazotized 4-amino-2,3-dimethyl-1-phenyl-3-pyrazolin-5-one with 2-amino-4,6-dimethyl-1,3-thiazole. Titan Yellow is a selective reagent for the determination of magnesium ions. It forms a colored complex with Mg2+ in alkaline solution, which can be measured spectrophotometrically. The formation of this complex is highly dependent on pH and the presence of other cations. Titan Yellow is also used as a histological stain, particularly for identifying muscle fibers. Titan Yellow is studied due to its selectivity for magnesium ions and its ability to form colored complexes in solution. It is used in analytical chemistry to determine the concentration of magnesium ions in biological samples and in industrial processes. Titan Yellow is also used in research to study the properties of magnesium ions and the mechanisms of magnesium-dependent enzymes.'
