Lidofenin is a radiopharmaceutical used for hepatobiliary scintigraphy. It is a derivative of iminodiacetic acid (IDA) and is labeled with the radioactive isotope technetium-99m (99mTc). Lidofenin is synthesized by reacting 99mTc with a precursor molecule containing IDA. After intravenous administration, lidofenin is rapidly extracted by the liver and excreted into the bile. Its accumulation in the gallbladder and intestines allows for visualization of the hepatobiliary system using a gamma camera. Lidofenin is used to diagnose a variety of hepatobiliary disorders, including cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, and biliary atresia. It can also be used to evaluate the patency of biliary drainage tubes.'
