Description
Silver chromate (Ag2CrO4) is a bright red crystalline compound. It is synthesized by reacting a soluble silver salt, such as silver nitrate (AgNO3), with a soluble chromate salt, such as potassium chromate (K2CrO4). The reaction results in the precipitation of silver chromate as a red solid. Silver chromate is used as a pigment in paints and ceramics due to its vibrant color. It is also used in analytical chemistry as a reagent in precipitation reactions. However, silver chromate is toxic and should be handled with care.
