Description

Biebrich Scarlet, also known as CI Acid Red 26, is a synthetic azo dye. It is a red crystalline solid that is soluble in water. It is used as a dye for wool, silk, and leather. Biebrich Scarlet is also used as an indicator in chemical analysis. It is prepared by the diazotization of sulfanilic acid followed by coupling with 1-naphthol. It is toxic and can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. It is studied to understand its properties and potential applications in various fields such as dyeing, printing, and analytical chemistry.'

Biebrich scarlet : An organic sodium salt having 2-[(2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl)diazenyl]-5-[(4-sulfonatophenyl)diazenyl]benzene-1-sulfonate as the counterion. Used as a plasma stain in Masson's trichrome.
