quinfamide

Quinfamide is a synthetic antiprotozoal drug that was developed in the 1960s. It is effective against a variety of protozoan parasites, including Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, and Cryptosporidium parvum. Quinfamide is thought to act by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and RNA in protozoa. However, it has been largely replaced by newer, more effective drugs. Quinfamide is still used in some parts of the world, but its use is limited due to its potential side effects, including gastrointestinal upset and neurotoxicity.
