stercuronium
Description
Stercuronium is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent. It is a synthetic bisquaternary ammonium compound that is structurally related to pancuronium and atracurium. Stercuronium is used to provide muscle relaxation during surgery and mechanical ventilation. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, resulting in paralysis. Stercuronium is typically administered intravenously and its effects are reversible. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine. Stercuronium is a potent neuromuscular blocking agent and it is typically used in conjunction with other medications, such as general anesthesia, to provide deep muscle relaxation.'
