Pentachlorothiophenol is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme glutathione S-transferase. Glutathione S-transferase is an enzyme that plays an important role in detoxification. Pentachlorothiophenol is also a known fungicide. This compound has been used to study the reaction mechanisms of certain organic reactions.'
