zopiclone has been researched along with Sleep Apnea, Obstructive in 8 studies
zopiclone: S(+)-enantiomer of racemic zopiclone; azabicyclo(4.3.0)nonane; a nonbenzodiazepine; one of the so-called of Z drugs (zopiclone, eszopiclone, zolpidem, and zaleplon) for which there is some correlation with tumors; was term of zopiclone 2004-2007
zopiclone : A pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyrazine compound having a 4-methylpiperazine-1-carboxyl group at the 5-position, a 5-chloropyridin-2-yl group at the 6-position and an oxo-substituent at the 7-position.
Sleep Apnea, Obstructive: A disorder characterized by recurrent apneas during sleep despite persistent respiratory efforts. It is due to upper airway obstruction. The respiratory pauses may induce HYPERCAPNIA or HYPOXIA. Cardiac arrhythmias and elevation of systemic and pulmonary arterial pressures may occur. Frequent partial arousals occur throughout sleep, resulting in relative SLEEP DEPRIVATION and daytime tiredness. Associated conditions include OBESITY; ACROMEGALY; MYXEDEMA; micrognathia; MYOTONIC DYSTROPHY; adenotonsilar dystrophy; and NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASES. The Impact of Venlafaxine on Apnea Hypopnea Index in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea[NCT02714400] | Phase 4 | 20 participants (Actual) | Interventional | 2016-03-31 | Completed | ||
[information is prepared from clinicaltrials.gov, extracted Sep-2024] |
Change from baseline in respiratory arousal threshold after single dose of Venlafaxine will be estimated. (NCT02714400)
Timeframe: Baseline and 7-day follow up
Intervention | Percent V-eupnea (Median) |
---|---|
Venlafaxine | 115.6 |
Placebo | 118.6 |
Loop gain 1 is used to describe the stability of ventilatory control. The change from baseline in loop gain after a single dose of Venlafaxine will be estimated. (NCT02714400)
Timeframe: Baseline and 7-day follow up
Intervention | Dimensionless (Mean) |
---|---|
Venlafaxine | 0.58 |
Placebo | 0.56 |
Change from baseline in nadir oxygen level during sleep after a single dose of Venlafaxine will be evaluated using overnight polysomnography. A lower blood oxygen saturation during sleep is associated with a more severe obstructive sleep apnea. (NCT02714400)
Timeframe: Baseline and 7-day follow up
Intervention | Percent Oxygen Saturation (Median) |
---|---|
Venlafaxine | 82.0 |
Placebo | 81.5 |
Change from baseline in sleep efficiency after single dose of Venlafaxine will be estimated using overnight polysomnography. (NCT02714400)
Timeframe: Baseline and 7-day follow up
Intervention | Percent Time in Bed (Mean) |
---|---|
Venlafaxine | 63.1 |
Placebo | 72.5 |
The Apnea hypopnea index is an index used to indicate the severity of sleep apnea. It is represented by the number of apnea and hypopnea events per hour of sleep. The change from baseline in apnea hypopnea index after a single dose of Venlafaxine will be evaluated using overnight polysomnography. An apnea hypopnea index less than five events per hour is considered within normal limits. (NCT02714400)
Timeframe: Baseline and 7-day follow up
Intervention | Events per Hour of Sleep (Mean) |

Venlafaxine | 40.5 |
Placebo | 46.1 |
