xylazine and Chronic Illness

xylazine has been researched along with Chronic Illness in 4 studies

Xylazine: An adrenergic alpha-2 agonist used as a sedative, analgesic and centrally acting muscle relaxant in VETERINARY MEDICINE.
xylazine : A methyl benzene that is 1,3-dimethylbenzene which is substituted by a 5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-2-ylnitrilo group at position 2. It is an alpha2 adrenergic receptor agonist and frequently used in veterinary medicine as an emetic and sedative with analgesic and muscle relaxant properties.

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Hypernatremia increases the speed of transition from different steps of ketamine/xylazine anesthesia with significant delay in immobility period and recovery from anesthesia in rats, hence, anesthetic dose reduction in hypernatremia is necessary."7.74Determination of sensitivity of male Wistar rats to an equal dose of ketamine/xylazine injection at anesthetic dose in a chronic model of hypernatremia in comparison with control group. "A comparison of the analgesic potency of the alpha 2-adrenoceptor agonist, xylazine, in control healthy sheep and sheep suffering chronic pain from footrot, indicated that the analgesic effectiveness of xylazine was significantly reduced in the animals experiencing chronic pain."7.68The influence of chronic pain on the analgesic effects of the alpha 2-adrenoceptor agonist, xylazine, in sheep.
