verapamil and Leukemia L 1210

verapamil has been researched along with Leukemia L 1210 in 25 studies

Verapamil: A calcium channel blocker that is a class IV anti-arrhythmia agent.
verapamil : A racemate comprising equimolar amounts of dexverapamil and (S)-verapamil. An L-type calcium channel blocker of the phenylalkylamine class, it is used (particularly as the hydrochloride salt) in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris and cardiac arrhythmia, and as a preventive medication for migraine.
2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-{[2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl](methyl)amino}-2-(propan-2-yl)pentanenitrile : A tertiary amino compound that is 3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine in which the hydrogens attached to the nitrogen are replaced by a methyl group and a 4-cyano-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-methylhexyl group.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The effect of calcium antagonist verapamil on the uptake and efflux of Etoposide (VP16), a semi-synthetic derivative of podophylotoxin and a broad spectrum antineoplastic agent, has been investigated and compared in sensitive (UM-UC-2) and resistant (UM-UC-9) human bladder cancer cells, and L1210 leukemia cells, by using both radioisotope (3[H]-VP16) liquid scintillation and high performance liquid chromatography assay with electrochemical detection."3.68Effect of verapamil on the uptake and efflux of etoposide (VP16) in both sensitive and resistant cancer cells. ( Feng, MR; Grossman, HB; Liebert, M; Mancini, WR; Wagner, JG; Wedemeyer, G; Williams, M, 1991)
"Treatment with verapamil (VRP) reduced the resistance to tallimustine, but not to MEN 10710, in MCF7/DX cells."1.30Cytotoxic and antitumor activity of MEN 10710, a novel alkylating derivative of distamycin. ( Animati, F; Bigioni, M; Lombardi, P; Manzini, S; Palma, C; Pratesi, G; Salvatore, C; Supino, R; Zunino, F, 1997)
" Since IAHQ has only modest activity against L1210 leukemia in mice, it was tested in combination with methotrexate (MTX), probenecid, or verapamil in an effort to enhance efficacy."1.27Effects of 5,8-dideazaisopteroylglutamate (IAHQ) on L1210 leukemia in mice when given alone and in combination with methotrexate, probenecid, or verapamil. ( Gale, GR; Hynes, JB; Smith, AB, 1986)
"Verapamil-mediated increase in net VP-16 transport was rapid (1 to 2 min), and allowed for the same elevation of steady-state VP-16 concentration, whether verapamil was added simultaneously with VP-16 or was added after a steady-state level of VP-16 was achieved."1.27Verapamil-induced augmentation of etoposide accumulation in L1210 cells in vitro. ( Ross, WE; Yalowich, JC, 1985)
