verapamil and Bronchial Spasm

verapamil has been researched along with Bronchial Spasm in 22 studies

Verapamil: A calcium channel blocker that is a class IV anti-arrhythmia agent.
verapamil : A racemate comprising equimolar amounts of dexverapamil and (S)-verapamil. An L-type calcium channel blocker of the phenylalkylamine class, it is used (particularly as the hydrochloride salt) in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris and cardiac arrhythmia, and as a preventive medication for migraine.
2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-{[2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl](methyl)amino}-2-(propan-2-yl)pentanenitrile : A tertiary amino compound that is 3,4-dimethoxyphenylethylamine in which the hydrogens attached to the nitrogen are replaced by a methyl group and a 4-cyano-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-methylhexyl group.

Bronchial Spasm: Spasmodic contraction of the smooth muscle of the bronchi.

"Twenty-four patients who were known to develop bronchoconstriction in response to isocapnic hyperventilation (IH) took part in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to assess the effects of verapamil (5 mg) and sodium cromoglycate (SCG) 20 mg in the prevention of IH-induced bronchoconstriction."9.05Effects of verapamil and sodium cromoglycate on bronchoconstriction induced by isocapnic hyperventilation. ( Biggs, BA; Fergusson, RJ; Grant, IW; Rafferty, P; Tweeddale, PM, 1985)
"The extracellular calcium antagonists, nifedipine and verapamil, the mixed extra/intracellular calcium antagonist diazoxide and the intracellular calcium antagonist TMB-8 were studied for their effects on histamine-induced bronchospasm in guinea pigs and on antigen-induced bronchospasms in guinea pigs and rats when administered directly to the tracheobronchial tree."7.67Effect of extra- and intracellular calcium blockers on histamine and antigen-induced bronchospasms in guinea pigs and rats. ( Chapman, RW; Danko, G; Siegel, MI, 1984)
"The protective effect was studied of the drugs blocking the calcium channel on histamine-induced bronchospasm."5.06[Evaluation of the protective effects of nifedipine and verapamil in patients with bronchial hyperreactivity]. ( Frank-Piskorska, A; Malinowski, R; Wasek, Z, 1989)
