uric acid has been researched along with Polymyalgia Rheumatica in 1 studies
Uric Acid: An oxidation product, via XANTHINE OXIDASE, of oxypurines such as XANTHINE and HYPOXANTHINE. It is the final oxidation product of purine catabolism in humans and primates, whereas in most other mammals URATE OXIDASE further oxidizes it to ALLANTOIN.
uric acid : An oxopurine that is the final oxidation product of purine metabolism.
6-hydroxy-1H-purine-2,8(7H,9H)-dione : A tautomer of uric acid having oxo groups at C-2 and C-8 and a hydroxy group at C-6.
7,9-dihydro-1H-purine-2,6,8(3H)-trione : An oxopurine in which the purine ring is substituted by oxo groups at positions 2, 6, and 8.
Polymyalgia Rheumatica: A syndrome in the elderly characterized by proximal joint and muscle pain, high erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and a self-limiting course. Pain is usually accompanied by evidence of an inflammatory reaction. Women are affected twice as commonly as men and Caucasians more frequently than other groups. The condition is frequently associated with GIANT CELL ARTERITIS and some theories pose the possibility that the two diseases arise from a single etiology or even that they are the same entity.

"Among 127 consenting patients, 81 with rheumatoid arthritis taking nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (13 diclofenac, 20 naproxen) or disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (25 sulfasalazine, 23 methotrexate), 17 patients with polymyalgia rheumatica taking prednisone, and 29 patients with gout taking daily prophylactic colchicine (n = 12) or the uric acid lowering drugs allopurinol (10) or benzbromaron (7), 104 used their medication from a regular medication bottle fitted with a special cap containing microelectronics capable of recording time and date of opening and closing, defined as a medication event." | 3.72 | The compliance-questionnaire-rheumatology compared with electronic medication event monitoring: a validation study.
