    Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) is the enzyme responsible for the metabolism of 2-arachidonoylglycerol in the brain and the hydrolysis of peripheral monoacylglycerols. Many studies demonstrated beneficial effects deriving from MAGL inhibition for neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory pathologies, and cancer.
