trimetrexate and Fibrosarcoma

trimetrexate has been researched along with Fibrosarcoma in 2 studies

Trimetrexate: A nonclassical folic acid inhibitor through its inhibition of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase. It is being tested for efficacy as an antineoplastic agent and as an antiparasitic agent against PNEUMOCYSTIS PNEUMONIA in AIDS patients. Myelosuppression is its dose-limiting toxic effect.

Fibrosarcoma: A sarcoma derived from deep fibrous tissue, characterized by bundles of immature proliferating fibroblasts with variable collagen formation, which tends to invade locally and metastasize by the bloodstream. (Stedman, 25th ed)

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"A human lymphoblastoid line (RPMI-1788), a methotrexate-sensitive human fibrosarcoma cell line (HT-1080), and a naturally resistant mixed mesodermal human sarcoma cell line with impaired methotrexate polyglutamylation (HS-42), recently established in our laboratory, were used to compare the ability of leucovorin to prevent trimetrexate cytotoxicity."3.68Inability of leucovorin to rescue a naturally methotrexate-resistant human soft tissue sarcoma cell line from trimetrexate cytotoxicity.
