triiodothyronine and Disease, Pulmonary

triiodothyronine has been researched along with Disease, Pulmonary in 9 studies

Triiodothyronine: A T3 thyroid hormone normally synthesized and secreted by the thyroid gland in much smaller quantities than thyroxine (T4). Most T3 is derived from peripheral monodeiodination of T4 at the 5' position of the outer ring of the iodothyronine nucleus. The hormone finally delivered and used by the tissues is mainly T3.
3,3',5-triiodo-L-thyronine : An iodothyronine compound having iodo substituents at the 3-, 3'- and 5-positions. Although some is produced in the thyroid, most of the 3,3',5-triiodo-L-thyronine in the body is generated by mono-deiodination of L-thyroxine in the peripheral tissues. Its metabolic activity is about 3 to 5 times that of L-thyroxine. The sodium salt is used in the treatment of hypothyroidism.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" The age, course of disease, incidence of fever, weight loss, cough and shortness of breath, pulmonary infection, hypothyroidism, hydronephrosis and kidney stone, swelling rate of small vascular endothelial cells, consolidation shadows, C-reactive protein and thyroid stimulating hormone in EF-PE group were higher than those in EF group, while free triiodothyronine and thyroxine were lower than those in EF group."4.31Clinical characteristics and risk factors of patients with eosinophilic fasciitis associated with pleural effusion. ( Chen, Z; Jia, A; Ouyang, R; Shang, Y; Wasti, B; Xiang, X, 2023)
"In acute and subacute disease the active thyroid hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) and tetraiodothyroacetic acid (tetrac), are decreased while serum-thyroxine (T4) levels tend to be slightly reduced."3.65Reduced active thyroid hormone levels in acute illness.
