triazolam and Pregnancy

triazolam has been researched along with Pregnancy in 10 studies

Triazolam: A short-acting benzodiazepine used in the treatment of insomnia. Some countries temporarily withdrew triazolam from the market because of concerns about adverse reactions, mostly psychological, associated with higher dose ranges. Its use at lower doses with appropriate care and labeling has been reaffirmed by the FDA and most other countries.

Pregnancy: The status during which female mammals carry their developing young (EMBRYOS or FETUSES) in utero before birth, beginning from FERTILIZATION to BIRTH.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Triazolam was shown to have a pronounced amnesic effect and whilst it might be used for premedication, its lack of anxiolysis coupled with a significant impairment of psychomotor performance at 3 hours after awakening, render the drug unsuitable for premedication in the short stay patient."2.66A comparison of triazolam and diazepam as premedication agents for minor gynaecological surgery. ( Fell, D; Hunt, PC; Miller, R; Pinnock, CA; Smith, G, 1985)
"Triazolam has not been shown to be carcinogenic, and it has a low potential for abuse and addiction."2.42Oral triazolam sedation in implant dentistry. ( Flanagan, D, 2004)
"Triazolam, which is a substrate of Cyp3a, was intraperitoneally administered to the mice in the HF group."1.38Consumption of a high-fat diet during pregnancy decreases the activity of cytochrome P450 3a in the livers of offspring. "Triazolam failed to produce statistically significant phase shifts when administered during the subjective day, but 2 animals bearing functional SCN grafts responded to this benzodiazapine during the subjective night."1.29Regulation of the phase and period of circadian rhythms restored by suprachiasmatic transplants. ( Basil, J; Bittman, EL; Jetton, AE; Lehman, MN; Matsumoto, S, 1996)

( Mathers, DA, 1991)
" and 1 h after oral dosing of [14C]triazolam to rats."1.26Metabolism of 8-chloro-6-(o-chlorophenyl)-1-methyl-4H-s-triazolo [4,3-alpha] [1,4] benzodiazepine, triazolam, a new central depressant. I. Absorption, distribution and excretion in rats, dogs and monkeys. ( Esumi, Y; Kitagawa, H; Kurosawa, S; Sekine, S; Yokoshima, T, 1979)
" Major metabolites in the urine, faeces, plasma and brain after 7-, 14- or 21-day repeated dosing in rats were not much different in type and ratio from those after single dosing."1.26Metabolism of 8-chloro-6-(o-chlorophenyl)-1-methyl-4H-s-triazolo [4,3-alpha] [1,4]benzodiazepine, triazolam, a new central depressant.
