ticlopidine and Vascular Calcification

ticlopidine has been researched along with Vascular Calcification in 1 studies

Ticlopidine: An effective inhibitor of platelet aggregation commonly used in the placement of STENTS in CORONARY ARTERIES.
ticlopidine : A thienopyridine that is 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine in which the hydrogen attached to the nitrogen is replaced by an o-chlorobenzyl group.

Vascular Calcification: Deposition of calcium into the blood vessel structures. Excessive calcification of the vessels are associated with ATHEROSCLEROTIC PLAQUES formation particularly after MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION (see MONCKEBERG MEDIAL CALCIFIC SCLEROSIS) and chronic kidney diseases which in turn increase VASCULAR STIFFNESS.

Trial Outcomes

Number of Participants With BARC Type 2, 3, or 5

Number of participants with first occurrence of clinically relevant bleeding episode, defined as Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) Types 2, 3 or 5 bleeding. BARC bleeding types range from 0 (no bleeding) to 5 (fatal bleeding). (NCT02270242)
Timeframe: 12 months after randomization

InterventionParticipants (Count of Participants)
Placebo + Ticagrelor141
Aspirin + Ticagrelor250

Number of Participants With Ischemic Episode

Number of participants with first occurrence of confirmed all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction or stroke. (NCT02270242)
Timeframe: 12 months after randomization

InterventionParticipants (Count of Participants)
Placebo + Ticagrelor135
Aspirin + Ticagrelor137
