thyroxine and Stillbirth

thyroxine has been researched along with Stillbirth in 8 studies

Thyroxine: The major hormone derived from the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is synthesized via the iodination of tyrosines (MONOIODOTYROSINE) and the coupling of iodotyrosines (DIIODOTYROSINE) in the THYROGLOBULIN. Thyroxine is released from thyroglobulin by proteolysis and secreted into the blood. Thyroxine is peripherally deiodinated to form TRIIODOTHYRONINE which exerts a broad spectrum of stimulatory effects on cell metabolism.
thyroxine : An iodothyronine compound having iodo substituents at the 3-, 3'-, 5- and 5'-positions.

Stillbirth: The event that a FETUS is born dead or stillborn.

( Batra, CM; Gupta, N; Gupta, V; Menon, PS, 2015)
"The aim of this study was to determine whether measurements of certain metabolic (non-esterified fatty acid, β-hydroxybutyrate, glucose, total protein, albumin, urea-nitrogen, aspartate aminotransferase, total calcium, inorganic phosphate and magnesium) and endocrine (cortisol, thyroxine, triiodothyronine, insulin and insulin-like growth factor) parameters in the peripartal period (2 months and 3 weeks before expected calving and within 1 hr after calving) were related to the prevalence of stillbirth in a Holstein-Friesian farm in Hungary."3.88Prediction of stillbirth in Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle by measuring metabolic and endocrine parameters during the peripartal period. ( Abdelmegeid, MK; Bajcsy, CÁ; Biksi, I; Brydl, E; Kulcsár, M; Solymosi, N; Szenci, O, 2018)
" In the 875 with TSH and FT4 results and no history of thyroid disease, 10% had hypothyroxinemia, 4·6% subclinical hypothyroidism, 1·6% overt hypothyroidism and 1·5% subclinical hyperthyroidism."3.83Thyroid function testing in women who had a stillbirth. ( Bossuyt, PM; Erwich, JJ; Groen, H; Korteweg, FJ; Mol, BW; Nijkamp, JW; Timmer, A; Van Den Berg, G, 2016)

( Joyce, C; Khalid, AS; O'Donoghue, K, 2013)
"The 2 reported cases raise the possibility of uteroplacental ischemia and placental abruption being mechanisms by which hypothyroidism can lead to stillbirth; they also highlight the potential of minimizing this risk via adequate levothyroxine treatment from early pregnancy."3.79Optimal treatment of hypothyroidism associated with live birth in cases of previous recurrent placental abruption and stillbirth.
