thyroxine and Breast Diseases

thyroxine has been researched along with Breast Diseases in 12 studies

Thyroxine: The major hormone derived from the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is synthesized via the iodination of tyrosines (MONOIODOTYROSINE) and the coupling of iodotyrosines (DIIODOTYROSINE) in the THYROGLOBULIN. Thyroxine is released from thyroglobulin by proteolysis and secreted into the blood. Thyroxine is peripherally deiodinated to form TRIIODOTHYRONINE which exerts a broad spectrum of stimulatory effects on cell metabolism.
thyroxine : An iodothyronine compound having iodo substituents at the 3-, 3'-, 5- and 5'-positions.

Breast Diseases: Pathological processes of the BREAST.

"Radioimmunoassayable levels of total and free 3,5,3'-triodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine binding globulin (TBG) and prolactin (Prl) were measured in a series of samples of breast cyst fluid (BCF) aspirated from 73 pre-menopausal women with gross cystic disease of the breast and in coincidental blood samples."3.67Thyroid hormone levels in human breast cyst fluid. "These results indicate that breast cancer and thyroid disease are probably related, but not in a specific way, since benign mastopathy also seems to be associated with thyroid disturbances."1.27Thyroid disease in patients with benign and malignant mastopathy.
