thyroxine and Bilirubinemia

thyroxine has been researched along with Bilirubinemia in 7 studies

Thyroxine: The major hormone derived from the thyroid gland. Thyroxine is synthesized via the iodination of tyrosines (MONOIODOTYROSINE) and the coupling of iodotyrosines (DIIODOTYROSINE) in the THYROGLOBULIN. Thyroxine is released from thyroglobulin by proteolysis and secreted into the blood. Thyroxine is peripherally deiodinated to form TRIIODOTHYRONINE which exerts a broad spectrum of stimulatory effects on cell metabolism.
thyroxine : An iodothyronine compound having iodo substituents at the 3-, 3'-, 5- and 5'-positions.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In addition, characterization of the UGT1A locus and genetic studies directed at understanding the role of bilirubin glucuronidation and the biochemical basis of the clinical symptoms found in unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia have uncovered the structural gene polymorphisms associated with Crigler-Najjar's and Gilbert's syndrome."4.80Human UDP-glucuronosyltransferases: metabolism, expression, and disease. ( Strassburg, CP; Tukey, RH, 2000)
"The appearance of moderate jaundice with mildly raised levels of plasma bilirubin is an uncommon complication of thyrotoxicosis and is usually accompanied by signs of right heart failure."3.70Appearance of severe jaundice after radiometabolical treatment of thyrotoxicosis. ( Babini, G; Bertello, P; Gurioli, L; Rizzi, R, 1999)
"Finally, hemolysis and lipemia significantly interfered with cortisol and fT4 measurements, whereas bilirubinemia did not affect the results."1.32Cortisol and free thyroxine determination by time-resolved fluorometry in canine serum. ( Bernal, LJ; Cerón, JJ; Parra, MD, 2004)
