[Prevention of postoperative complications in diffuse purulent peritonitis in children].
    Khirurgiia, 1994, Issue:8

A complex pathogenetic approach to the prevention of postoperative complications in generalized fibrinopyogenic peritonitis is suggested. It includes a wide operative access, one-stage cleansing with antiseptics and detoxification solutions, ultrasonic cavitation of the abdominal cavity, creation of laparostomy, local infiltration of the wound edges with 0.01% thymalin solution, correction of hemostasis disorders, and increase of the organism's general reactivity. With the use of this complex the results of treatment were significantly improved in 21 children and the number of complications was much less than in the control group of patients subjected to operation.

Topics: Adjuvants, Immunologic; Child; Combined Modality Therapy; Humans; Peritonitis; Postoperative Complications; Sorption Detoxification; Suppuration; Surgical Procedures, Operative; Thymus Hormones; Treatment Outcome; Ultrasonic Therapy

[Evaluation of the effectiveness of immunomodulators in the treatment of patients with postoperative suppurative-septic complications].
    Khirurgiia, 1996, Issue:2

The influence of immunoactive medicines on the cell immunity have been studied. There were differences in reaction to T-activin and Thymalin between various patients with septic postoperative complications. Thymalin stimulated T-cells while acting with immunoglobulins or immune plasmas only. T-activin led to the increase in the number of T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes independently of it's cooperation with the vaccines. The stimulating effect of myelopid demonstrated itself by increase in the number of B-lymphocytes and immunoglobulins M and G after 14 days of treatment. The positive clinical effect was more impressive when immunomodulators were used in combinations with the vaccines; still it did not correlate completely with the dynamics of the cell immunity parameters.

[Administration of immunocorrective agents into the greater omentum in the complex treatment of non-circumscribed peritonitis].
    Klinicheskaia khirurgiia, 1990, Issue:1

Into the complex of treatment of 46 patients with non-circumscribed peritonitis, the thymalin immunocorrector was included. Intramuscular injection had no significant effect on the local factors of immune protection of the abdominal cavity. In thymalin administration into the great omentum, the systemic immunodeficient state and local immunodepression were eliminated.

[Use of thymalin and heparin in acute peritonitis].
    Vestnik khirurgii imeni I. I. Grekova, 1986, Volume: 136, Issue:2

Results of the investigation of parameters of cell and humoral immunity and coagulogram in 63 patients with acute peritonitis have shown that thymalin when used solely or in combination with heparin facilitates quicker arrest of the pathological process, its clinical and laboratory symptoms. The combination of thymalin and heparin is indicated to elderly patients and in cases with higher risk of thromboformation.

[Use of thymalin in trauma patients].
    Vestnik khirurgii imeni I. I. Grekova, 1984, Volume: 132, Issue:2

A clinical study of the thymus preparation Thymalin was carried out in 23 patients with special reference to its use for prevention and treatment of infectious complications of critical traumas. The complex treatment can improve the clinical course of the trauma disease and normalize immune indices of the patients.

    Vestnik khirurgii imeni I. I. Grekova, 1983, Volume: 131, Issue:9

The application of thymalin and kontrikal for the treatment of patients with injuries of the abdominal organs is believed by the authors to result in the recovery of the cell and humoral immunity, the decrease of fermentemia and reduced lethality from peritonitis.
