thioctic acid and Acrania

thioctic acid has been researched along with Acrania in 2 studies

Thioctic Acid: An octanoic acid bridged with two sulfurs so that it is sometimes also called a pentanoic acid in some naming schemes. It is biosynthesized by cleavage of LINOLEIC ACID and is a coenzyme of oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (KETOGLUTARATE DEHYDROGENASE COMPLEX). It is used in DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS.

"In rats treated only during pregnancy days 1 to 5 (before diabetes induction), lipoic acid failed to exert its protective effects against neural tube defects, which emphasizes the importance of the presence of lipoic acid during the organogenesis period."1.30Lipoic acid prevention of neural tube defects in offspring of rats with streptozocin-induced diabetes.
