thalidomide has been researched along with Pregnancy in 666 studies
Thalidomide: A piperidinyl isoindole originally introduced as a non-barbiturate hypnotic, but withdrawn from the market due to teratogenic effects. It has been reintroduced and used for a number of immunological and inflammatory disorders. Thalidomide displays immunosuppressive and anti-angiogenic activity. It inhibits release of TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR-ALPHA from monocytes, and modulates other cytokine action.
thalidomide : A racemate comprising equimolar amounts of R- and S-thalidomide.
2-(2,6-dioxopiperidin-3-yl)-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione : A dicarboximide that is isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione in which the hydrogen attached to the nitrogen is substituted by a 2,6-dioxopiperidin-3-yl group.
Pregnancy: The status during which female mammals carry their developing young (EMBRYOS or FETUSES) in utero before birth, beginning from FERTILIZATION to BIRTH.

"For example, in the case of Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS), monitoring for the combination of cataracts with deafness and/or patent ductus arteriosus could have led to earlier detection of an epidemic than could monitoring for cataracts alone." | 1.27 | Monitoring for multiple malformations in the detection of epidemics of birth defects. ( Adams, MM; Erickson, JD; Khoury, MJ; Rhodes, P, 1987) |
"Head anomalies in fetuses (anencephaly, holoprosencephaly and hydrocephaly) were induced at a high frequency by the maternal administration of thalidomide on day 7, and also in a few fetuses on day 8." | 1.27 | [Teratogenic potentially of single dose of thalidomide in JW-NIBS rabbits]. ( Matsubara, Y; Mikami, T, 1985) |
" At the most, there is only a marginal loss of sensitivity in respect of detecting the lowest dosage at which effects may occur." | 1.27 | An indirect assessment of the Chernoff/Kavlock assay. ( Palmer, AK, 1987) |
" Also the toxic dose to the mothers, 3000 mg/kg, given to rabbits in case of one FWA was without these effects." | 1.25 | Studies of embryo toxicity in rats and rabbits. ( Lorke, D; Machemer, L, 1975) |
"Goiter is relatively common in infants whose mothers were treated with propylthiouracil and other antithyroid drugs, yet they usually show normal thyroid function." | 1.25 | Human experiences related to adverse drug reactions to the fetus or neonate from some maternally administered drugs. ( Shirkey, HC, 1972) |
