succinylcholine and Bronchospasm

succinylcholine has been researched along with Bronchospasm in 26 studies

Succinylcholine: A quaternary skeletal muscle relaxant usually used in the form of its bromide, chloride, or iodide. It is a depolarizing relaxant, acting in about 30 seconds and with a duration of effect averaging three to five minutes. Succinylcholine is used in surgical, anesthetic, and other procedures in which a brief period of muscle relaxation is called for.
succinylcholine : A quaternary ammonium ion that is the bis-choline ester of succinic acid.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Among all the drugs used for general anesthesia, neuromuscular blockers appear to play a prominent role in the incidence of severe adverse reactions."2.40Adverse effects of neuromuscular blockers and their antagonists. ( Magboul, MM; Naguib, M, 1998)
"Anaphylactic reactions are far less common than anaphylactoid reactions, but they nevertheless represent more than half of the life-threatening reactions that occur in anaesthetic practice."2.39Muscle relaxants and histamine release. ( Moss, J, 1995)
"Several possibilities of preventing anaphylactoid reactions are given, if one or more of these risk factors are found in the history: a better choice of anaesthetic drugs, in the light of previous anaesthetic protocols, the relief of anxiety by appropriate premedication, antihistamine premedication and the prevention of bronchospasm."1.27[Risk factors in anaphylactoid reactions to muscle relaxants. A retrospective study of 103 cases of shock]. ( Boileau, S; Croizier, A; Grilliat, JP; Laxenaire, MC; Moneret-Vautrin, DA; Widmer, S, 1985)
