Scan findings of various myocardial SPECT agents in a case of amyloid polyneuropathy with suspected myocardial involvement.
A 31-year-old male having familial amyloid polyneuropathy underwent a Tc-99m(V)-DMSA study to evaluate the myocardial involvement. The patient also underwent T1-201, I-123-BMIPP and I-123-MIBG myocardial SPECT studies to evaluate blood perfusion, fatty acid metabolism and sympathetic function of the heart, respectively. Tc-99m(V)-DMSA SPECT showed uptake to the myocardium indicating myocardial involvement of amyloidosis. Both T1-201 and I-123-BMIPP studies showed normal uptake indicating normal blood perfusion and fatty acid metabolism but I-123-MIBG SPECT showed no uptake to the heart, indicating severe impairment of sympathetic function. Ga-67 and Tc-99m (V) DMSA imaging in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with amyloid tumor.
This report describes the localization and categorization of tumors using Ga-67 and Tc-99m (V) DMSA imaging in a rare case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma associated with an amyloid tumor. Ga-67 uptake was found in both the lymphoma and the amyloid tumor. Significant Tc-99m (V) DMSA uptake was found only in the amyloid tumor. In this case, Ga-67 uptake was nonspecific, but Tc-99m (V) DMSA uptake gave additional information before treatment. Technetium-99m(V)dimercaptosuccinic acid uptake in intra-abdominal massive deposit of amyloid protein.
Technetium-99m(V)dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) scintigraphy was performed in two patients with pathologically confirmed primary amyloidosis. Both patients had tumor-like deposits of AL-type amyloid in the abdomen. Marked uptake of the tracer by the amyloid deposits was noted. Technetium-99m-(V)DMSA scintigraphy appears to be useful in detecting the distribution of amyloid deposits and in determining the appropriate site for biopsy. Technetium-99m (V) DMSA uptake in amyloidosis.
Technetium-99m(V) DMSA scintigraphy was performed in two patients with pathologically confirmed amyloidosis associated with plasmacytoma. Significant uptake of the tracer was found in the deposition of amyloid. Technetium-99m(V) DMSA scintigraphy could be useful in determining the appropriate region of biopsy and in forecasting the prognosis of patient with plasmacytoma.
