staurosporine aglycone and Melanoma

staurosporine aglycone has been researched along with Melanoma in 2 studies

staurosporine aglycone: metabolite from culture broth of Nocardiopsis sp.; a neurotrophin antag; inhibits BDNF TrkB receptor

Melanoma: A malignant neoplasm derived from cells that are capable of forming melanin, which may occur in the skin of any part of the body, in the eye, or, rarely, in the mucous membranes of the genitalia, anus, oral cavity, or other sites. It occurs mostly in adults and may originate de novo or from a pigmented nevus or malignant lentigo. Melanomas frequently metastasize widely, and the regional lymph nodes, liver, lungs, and brain are likely to be involved. The incidence of malignant skin melanomas is rising rapidly in all parts of the world. (Stedman, 25th ed; from Rook et al., Textbook of Dermatology, 4th ed, p2445)

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Melanoma is a highly aggressive skin tumor that originates in the epidermis from melanocytes."1.35Neurotrophins and their receptors stimulate melanoma cell proliferation and migration. ( Dallaglio, K; French, LE; Hempstead, BL; Lotti, R; Marconi, A; Pincelli, C; Truzzi, F, 2008)
"We further demonstrate that treatment of melanoma cells with either H-89 or PKA RI alpha antisense oligonucleotides also resulted in a decreased internalization of two other ligands of LRP, activated alpha2M and lactoferrin, indicating that PKA activity is associated with LRP."1.30Receptor-mediated endocytosis of urokinase-type plasminogen activator is regulated by cAMP-dependent protein kinase.
