spiperone and Hyperprolactinemia

spiperone has been researched along with Hyperprolactinemia in 3 studies

Spiperone: A spiro butyrophenone analog similar to HALOPERIDOL and other related compounds. It has been recommended in the treatment of SCHIZOPHRENIA.
spiperone : An azaspiro compound that is 1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decane which is substituted at positions 1, 4, and 8 by phenyl, oxo, and 4-(p-fluorophenyl)-4-oxobutyl groups, respectively.

Hyperprolactinemia: Increased levels of PROLACTIN in the BLOOD, which may be associated with AMENORRHEA and GALACTORRHEA. Relatively common etiologies include PROLACTINOMA, medication effect, KIDNEY FAILURE, granulomatous diseases of the PITUITARY GLAND, and disorders which interfere with the hypothalamic inhibition of prolactin release. Ectopic (non-pituitary) production of prolactin may also occur. (From Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1992, Ch36, pp77-8)

" Since no data are yet available on the effects of mesulergine on pituitary dopamine receptors, the present study has been designated to elucidate the influence of this drug on prolactin secretion in vivo and in vitro and 3H-spiperone binding by the anterior pituitary gland in female Wistar rats with experimentally induced hyperprolactinemia."7.68Effect of mesulergine on prolactin secretion and dopamine D2 receptors-adaptive changes in diethylstilbestrol-induced hyperplasia of the rat anterior pituitary.
